Re: Baptist Road Retail Center- Southeast of Baptist Road and Jackson Creek Parkway, El Paso County Dear Mr. Schueler: I am assisting the Coalition of Tri-Lakes Communities (the "Coalition") on a pro bono basis in connection with the proposed Baptist Road Retail Center and the project’s potential impacts upon adjacent Preble’s meadow jumping mouse habitat along Jackson Creek. Last May, I wrote a letter to the developer requesting information about the project’s impacts on Preble’s habitat. A copy of that letter is enclosed. To date, the developer has not provided any of the requested information or otherwise responded to the letter. The Coalition’s understanding is that the developer may seek the necessary land use and development approvals for its Baptist Road Retail Center project from El Paso County. To the best knowledge of the Coalition there remain unanswered questions about this project’s potential impacts upon known Preble’s habitat along Jackson Creek. Accordingly, the Coalition respectfully requests that these questions be addressed in the course of any review by the El Paso County Planning Department of the Baptist Road Retail Center project. Sincerely, Richard J. McDonald cc: Mr. Leroy W. Carlson Cole Emmons, Esq. |
