Dear Rick:
Many thanks for your letter of October 24 to Bev Huffman. We have discussed it together and wanted to provide you with the quick response you requested.
Let me start, Rick, by expressing our sincere appreciation to you, your staff, Leon Tenney, and the members of Town Council for the time which you all have spent in consideration of our proposal to add the 900 acres of Forest Lakes to the commercial property along Interstate 25 which is already within the Town limits. Obviously, this is a complicated challenge with many moving parts, so we are particularly grateful to everyone for the sincerity of their and your efforts to find mutual ground.
Based on the collective considerations of the 17 points in your letter, Rick, it appears to us that there is not a basis upon which we can mutually agree. While we were hopeful that an acceptable course could be found, we sadly find that such is not the case, and we can draw no other conclusion at this time. Please understand, Rick, that we remain committed to developing our commercial property in Monument in a manner that will bring credit and pride to the Town as well as ourselves, and we look forward to working with you, your staff, the elected officials, and affected neighbors in pursuit of that goal.
In the interest of avoiding any awkwardness in a public meeting, we request that our annexation petition be withdrawn at this time. We will continue to focus on the development of our commercial property and look forward to doing so in cooperation with you.
Please thank all those who worked so hard in this endeavor. Best regards.
Sincerely yours,
William D. Schuck
President
